Industrial Blade Manufacturing Built for Repeatable Cutting
An industrial blade is not defined by shape alone. Material grade, heat treatment, flatness, edge geometry, surface condition and installation accuracy all influence cutting quality and service life. Meirente Knife Co., Ltd. plans the manufacturing route around the application so that the finished blade can be checked against clear, practical requirements.
We manufacture standard replacement blades and drawing-based custom knives for pelletizing, slitting, fiber processing, food production, packaging, electronic materials and other industrial operations. Customers can begin with a drawing, an existing sample, a machine model or clear photos of the blade and cutting position.
Application Review Before Production
The first manufacturing decision is understanding what the blade must do. Our review considers the material being cut, machine interface, operating speed, temperature, cutting method, target edge quality, current failure mode and planned maintenance cycle. This prevents a visually similar blade from being produced with the wrong material, bevel direction or tolerance priorities.
Material and Process Route
Depending on the blade and application, the route may include material preparation, forming or forging, CNC machining, tempering, quenching, pressure sintering, precision grinding, demagnetizing, surface treatment and rust prevention. These processes are selected as a system to balance hardness, toughness, wear resistance, corrosion behavior and regrinding potential.
Precision Machining and Grinding
Critical dimensions are controlled according to the drawing and working position. For straight knives this may include length, width, thickness, straightness, parallelism and bevel geometry. For circular knives it may include outer diameter, bore, keyway, runout, concentricity and edge profile. For toothed blades, pitch, tooth height and tooth consistency become additional control points.
Inspection That Supports Repeat Orders
Inspection should reflect the actual drawing and cutting risk, not a generic checklist. Meirente uses dimensional and surface-quality checks, including KEYENCE inspection resources, to review material information, critical dimensions, edge angle, surface condition and visible defects where applicable. Confirmed inspection points can be carried forward to repeat orders for better consistency.
Export Packing and Production Feedback
After final inspection, sharp edges and finished surfaces require protection against impact, movement, corrosion and accidental contact. For continuing programs, performance feedback such as cutting hours, wear location, burr level, dust, heat or chipping can be used to review the next material, edge or process decision.
What should I send for a manufacturing review?
Send the blade drawing or sample dimensions, machine model, cutting material, operating condition, quantity and current problem. Photos of the blade holder, working side and worn edge are also useful.
Can Meirente manufacture from an existing sample?
A sample can support reverse measurement and technical discussion. The final specification, material and acceptance points should still be confirmed before production.
Which dimensions are most important?
The priority depends on the application. Common controls include thickness, flatness, parallelism, bore or hole position, keyway, tooth profile, edge angle, runout and concentricity.
How is repeat-order consistency supported?
Keep the confirmed drawing, item number, material route, inspection points and previous performance feedback linked to the repeat order.
Does every blade use the same heat treatment?
No. Heat treatment depends on material, geometry, toughness requirements and operating conditions. The selected route should match the application.
